Reading Notes: Chinese Fairy Tales Book - Part B

I really like the story of the foxes. One of the stories is about the fire fox. However, it is too short. I think I can extend it longer by adding more details. First, after the farmer boy stole the fox’s fire ball, he used his power to do good thing like saving people and expelling evils. Yet, when he received so many precious rewards for his acts, he grew greedy and asked for great rewards for whatever he does. He did not know the fire fox has always watching him from distance. The fox was actually rescued by his ancestor when it was trapped by the hunter’s trap. It purposely lent the farmer its fire ball for 100 years as repayment. Yet, it didn’t expect the boy to grow greedy and go as far as rescue people who supposed to die. Because of his actions, the fire fox appeared to get his fire ball back and stopped the once-the-farmer man to continue his evil deeds. However, he had done too many evils deeds and disrupted the cycle of death, upsetting the Demon King. So, after his death, the Demon King punished him to have different kind sufferings in many reincarnations, and each reincarnation represented an evil person that he saved using his stole power. Knowing that its way of retribution ruined the farmer boy, the fire fox vowed and told its kind that they shall not lend its fire ball or superpower to the human as repayment.
